Established in 1973, the Alnavar Town Panchayat comprises of 15 wards, spread across an area of 10.59 square kilometers approximately. Alnavar’s population is 17,228 and the local dialect is Kannada. The summer temperature hovers around 36 degrees Celsius and the winter temperature hovers around 18 degrees Celsius.


Alnavar is famous for tourist places like Dandeli, famous for wildlife sanctuary, Dharwad for its rivers and backwaters, Nersa for its wildlife reserve and Castle Rock for its sanctuaries. Tourism activities and adventure sports like kayaking, river rafting, river crossing, boat rides (Coracle) natural Jacuzzi or jet stream with private resorts and nature camps for accommodation are famous in and around Alnavar.

Alnavar Railway Junction in South Western Railway in India is located in Uttar Kannad, Haliyal with 16 express trains stopping by at the junction. Nearest railway stations to Alnavar junction are Hubli Junction and Belgaum and trains to Bengaluru and Goa can be availed from this place. Alnavar can be reached via stations Tavargatti and Nagargali in Karnataka.
